Hey - the Pixies

I should have posted this last week, but that would have been too self-referential and snarky (even for me). Just think, two songs with the same title, by different bands... and they're not covers. Same title, but completely different. Yeah, i should just let it go.

I was too young when the Pixies were around to really appreciate them, or even know who they were. At that point (late 80's), i was more involved in pop music and hair bands... like every middle schooler should be. But like a kid that only likes bland and sweet foods but grows up to love spinach, i've developed taste buds for more refined music (still love the pop and hair bands on occasion though). The Pixies definitely fit into that category. They're an odd band that found a niche in the years between punk and grunge, and recorded some amazingly complex and influential music. I caught a bit of a documentary on them a few weeks back and it was full of today's best musicians professing over and over again that they wouldn't even exists if it weren't for the Pixies. Radiohead especially.

So this is the Pixies song that i keep coming back to. It's odd, and obscure, and a little giddy with itself, but fun just the same, especially when you play it loud and sing along.
hey
must be a devil between us
or whores in my head
whores at my door
whore in my bed
but hey
where
have you
been
if you go i will surely die
we're chained
we're chained...
